Complaint Registered Against Home Minister Shri Amit Shah for Disrespectful Remarks Against Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

Townhall Times , New Delhi , a Group of Ambedkarite finally got the success to registered FIR against Union Home Minister Shri Amit  Shah   on his commant  on Dr. BR Ambedkar “””Abhi ek fashion ho gaya hai – Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar. Itna naam agar bhagwan ka lete to saat janmon tak swarg mil jata (It has become a fashion to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar’. If they had taken God’s name so many times, they would have got a place in heaven),” Shah said, taking a swipe at the opposition.

The nation was shocked by the comments made by Mr. Amit Shah, in which he criticized Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a towering figure in Indian history and a multi-dimensional personality. Dr. Ambedkar is not only the architect of the Indian Constitution but also the founder of several pivotal institutions, including NITI Aayog and the Reserve Bank of India. His contributions to Indian society are unparalleled, particularly in championing the cause of women’s rights, social justice, and equality. He was the first to grant women the right to vote, establish the Maternity Benefit Act, advocate for the right to education, and ensure equal rights for women in ancestral property.

Mr. R.L. Kain has played a key role in initiating legal action against Mr. Amit Shah. He, along with his colleagues, took the matter to the SHO of Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi to file a complaint against Mr. Shah for his public remarks, which were seen as an insult to Dr. Ambedkar during his speech in the Rajya Sabha on December 17, 2024. In the complaint, Mr. Kain submitted documentary evidence and photographs, which were gathered from government sources with great difficulty.

Initially, there was resistance from the police to register the FIR, even after presenting the necessary evidence. Mr. Kain expressed strong dissatisfaction with the delay and demanded that the matter be escalated to the ACP for further investigation. The SHO was persuaded by the compelling evidence and acknowledged discrepancies in Mr. Shah’s statements, noting that Dr. Ambedkar’s name had been mentioned six times in the speech, while the documentary evidence provided indicated only three mentions. This inconsistency raised concerns of tampering and misrepresentation under external pressure.

Mr. Kain has given the police three days to register the FIR, or he will take further legal action. He has promised to keep all concerned parties informed about the developments and has urged everyone to continue supporting the cause. This issue, according to him, is a matter of pride for all Ambedkarites, and he has called on others to add their voices and pressure the government to address the matter. He also invited comments from others on this pressing issue, emphasizing the need for collective action in pursuit of justice for Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy.
