Middle East conflict has entered a new phase. The United States’s President has provided orders to United States Protective Command to center a battle group to the Middle East. Analysts see this as an aggressor action as battle groups are designed to respond to offensive actions taken by their potential opponents. US DOD indicates that the protection of the battle group is to address the concerns of the United States and the concerns of the Middle East holders of oil. The center grouping of warships is empowered by the US to provide defense from missile and aircraft attacks. This grouping is set to guard the primary battle lines of a theater and to police insurgency.
Important trade channels like the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz are already sensitive and crucial to the global oil supply. With increased military presence in the area, there is no doubt that the global oil trade would be affected. Iran has made its criticism of the American actions clear. Iranians believe that foreign military presence is a destabilizing factor in the region, adding that Iran is prepared to defend its sovereignty, irrespective of the consequences.
