Addressing a press conference today, Dr. Udit Raj, Ex-MP, said that the suicide of ASI Sandeep Lathar, following the suicide of IPS Puran Kumar, appears to be a conspiracy. “Has suicide ever been avenged by suicide?” he questioned.
Dr. Raj stated that Sandeep Lathar, a resident of Jind, occasionally visited his relatives, who are BJP leaders. Lathar’s suicide note contains nothing but praise for the BJP government, DGP Shatrughan Kapoor, and SP Narendra Bijarniya. “Did he really commit suicide, or is it part of a larger conspiracy?” Dr. Raj asked.
He further questioned how someone who once claimed to see himself among the ranks of Bhagat Singh could become so cowardly as to take his own life. “If he had even a shred of honesty, he would have remained alive and testified against Puran Kumar. But instead, he took his own life to protect the BJP and corrupt officials, ensuring that no evidence remains,” he said. According to Dr. Raj, the entire episode seems designed to achieve multiple goals at once — and shockingly, a case has been filed against the victim instead.
Raising further doubts, Dr. Raj asked, “Why did Sandeep Lathar choose Rohtak as the place for his suicide?” He pointed out that Ramesh Lohar, a BJP leader, had opposed the Jat agitation in 2016, which led to riots, and had also acted against the wrestler girls protesting at Jantar Mantar. “Why were all BJP leaders gathered around Lathar’s body? Why are the Chief Minister, ministers, and several BJP leaders supporting him?” he questioned.
Dr. Raj also condemned the filing of an FIR against IAS officer Amneet Kumar and his brother Amit Ratan, who lives in Punjab and is an MLA. He said, “Amneet Kumar has absolutely no connection to this incident. He is not even part of the police force. Victimizing such individuals marks the return of Manuism.”
Commenting on the broader implications, Dr. Raj said that it is not difficult to imagine the plight of Dalits under the BJP government. “When an influential Dalit family, with a brother who is an MLA, a sister-in-law who is an IPS officer, and she herself an IAS officer, faces such treatment, what will be the fate of ordinary Dalits?” he asked.
He further questioned Ms. Mayawati’s silence, saying, “If you hold rallies to express gratitude to the BJP, situations like these will continue. Shouldn’t the Dalits fighting among themselves in Haryana learn from this incident? Shouldn’t there be a nationwide movement?”
Dr. Udit Raj concluded by asserting that the Chandigarh Police investigation is unlikely to bring justice to IPS Puran Kumar. He demanded that the matter be investigated under the supervision of a High Court judge, which, he said, would also bring out ASI Sandeep Lathar’s side of the story. Finally, he urged that the false case filed against IAS Amneet Kumar be immediately dismissed.
