AI Summit Turns Chaotic as Poor Planning, Political Overreach, Security Evacuations, Chinese Robot Scandals, and Basic Facility Failures Trigger Public Outrage at the India AI Impact Summit 2026

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam has come under heavy public criticism after thousands of visitors, exhibitors, and tech delegates shared bitter experiences on social media. What was planned as a celebration of India’s leadership in AI turned into a deeply frustrating experience for many who attended.

A major controversy exploded when Galgotias University showcased a robotic dog they branded as “Orion.” In a widely circulated video, a university representative introduced the robot as their own creation. Within hours, visitors identified it as the Unitree Go2, a budget Chinese robotic dog that costs around two to three lakh rupees. Users called it a “fake innovation,” “academic fraud,” and a “national embarrassment.” Some even posted that Chinese media mocked India for showcasing a Chinese product as Indian. After the backlash, officials reportedly forced Galgotias to vacate their stall, and attendees posted videos showing their booth power being cut during eviction. The university later issued a clarification saying the robot was only for educational use, but most users dismissed the explanation as damage control.

Wipro also faced questions when attendees claimed their robotic dog looked identical to another Chinese model. Many argued that such displays damaged India’s credibility at an event meant to highlight local innovation.

Anger only intensified when repeated visits by Narendra Modi caused widespread disruption. Attendees said entire sections of the expo were evacuated before and during his movement across halls. People were pushed out suddenly, stalls were left unattended, and long delays followed. Several exhibitors posted that they lost promotion time and potential clients because they were forced to leave their spaces multiple times. Many described the event as “Modi’s PR event,” “Modi mela,” and “a political stage disguised as a tech summit.” Users wrote that the summit felt less like a professional platform and more like a security-heavy political show.

Visitor experiences reflected complete chaos. Massive queues formed from early morning, with some waiting two to four hours just to enter. People complained of suffocation, overcrowded corridors, and zero guidance from the management. One visitor wrote that it felt like “a stampede waiting to happen,” while another said they “walked more than at a railway station during rush hour.”

Food and water were major concerns. Many attendees said food stalls ran out quickly or accepted only cash. People stuck outside during evacuations said they were dehydrated and had nowhere to refill water. Exhibitors reported theft, including missing devices, gadgets, and display items. One startup founder said their product disappeared during evacuation chaos.

Tech sessions were also affected. WiFi did not work for most visitors. Several participants said sessions were abruptly interrupted or ended early because of crowd control or VIP protocols. Many voiced disappointment that despite participation from global leaders like Sundar Pichai and other industry figures, the event lacked basic professionalism.

Social media reactions were overwhelmingly negative. Attendees posted phrases such as “worst managed event,” “embarrassing for India,” and “a complete disaster.” Critics said the summit failed the expectations of the global tech community and highlighted deep flaws in planning and execution.

While a few government supporters attempted to downplay the criticism, the dominant public sentiment remains that the summit was overshadowed by mismanagement, political interference, and a major credibility scandal involving Chinese products. For many visitors, the India AI Impact Summit 2026 will be remembered not for innovation but for discomfort, disappointment, and chaos.
